Spring Tee-off For Cancer

The results are in and the inaugural Golf Sudbury “Spring Tee-off For Cancer” was a great success!  Over the two days of June 1^st and 2^nd, nearly $12,000 was raised for the National Cancer Research Foundation (NCRF).

Golf Sudbury, encompassing four golf courses, Timberwolf, Cedar Green, Pine Grove and Stonehill, donated 50% of all green fees to the NCRF.  For every $10 donation, golfers had an opportunity to win 1 of 4 golf club memberships and a Callaway golf set.  All in, the total value of the prizes was $6,600!

Anybody making a donation at the four courses to the NCRF was eligible for one of the five great prizes donated by the Golf Sudbury.  Prize winners included Bob Helpert, George Hakojarvi, Len Blake, John Stafford and Gerald Venturi.  Sam Yawney, Anita Lowe, Mike Yawney and Roma Levesque would like to thank all their patrons for their generous support and congratulate the winners.

Terry Ames, long time employee of Golf Sudbury and well known golf manager, has been battling cancer since May 2007.  He is an inspiration to all the Golf Sudbury stakeholders and the entire golf community. 

“It is a privilege for me to be part of such an excellent group of co-workers.  They are dedicated to making a difference in their community.” says Ames, “It is vital to ensure leading edge cancer research and progressive patient care continues at the Regional Cancer Program.  Through research and education, cancer can be beaten.”
